ADVANTAGES

The major advantages of KEEP-DRI DRESSINGS are as follows:

    1. No leakage when applied correctly
    2. Fast and easy to apply
    3. Inexpensive

HOSPITAL ADVANTAGES

For hospitals the advantages can be linked to treatment cost and patient care. Some of these advantages include:
  • Shorter hospital stays - wounds heal faster due to - no wound trauma, no reduction in wound temperature, no infection and no patient stress related to changing (wet) dressings
  • Eliminates waterborne infection - by preventing direct entry of water into the wound and stopping dressings getting wet (micro-organisms rapidly penetrate wet dressings) - surgical wound infections are the second most common hospital acquired infection
  • Eliminates airborne infection - removal of a dressing from a wound disperses thousands of airborne bacteria allowing cross-infection, it also allows entry of other (possibly multi resistant) micro-organisms into the wound
  • Direct cost saving - fewer changes of dressings means nursing time and often expensive dressings or dressing preparations are saved
  • Reduced Nursing time - substantially less nursing time is required (than making shower protectors by hand, applying them and often changing wet dressings) thus freeing nurses to provide more quality care

PATIENT ADVANTAGES

The advantages for patients are associated with increased quality of life while in hospital. Some patient advantages include:
  • Higher Self Esteem - reduced time waiting to have a shower (often unclothed) while the nursing staff makes and applies a shower dressing protector
  • Reduced stress - elimination of stress created by wound infection caused from waterborne or airborne micro-organisms while showering
  • Reduced trauma - pain is minimised when removing Keep-Dri Dressings as a low aggressive hypoallergenic adhesive is used. This also helps prevent skin tears, particularly in the elderly reducing patient trauma. Anypain associated with changing wet dressings is also eliminated
  • Increased Freedom - if desired, when the patient is shown how to correctly apply Keep-Dri Dressings they may apply it themselves allowing the patient to be involved in their own care and have a shower whenever they wish
