Subj: RE: CLL web visit and sign on

Dear Dr. Marshall;

I have had no response to our H-pylori post on your web page even though I have included my E-mail address in the sign up, and have invited questions. I have no new cell count data since early Dec. At that time the total was in the normal range, the lymph fraction was higher than normal but still declining.

I was hoping to get more information on things to look for before my next hem-onc visit. I am also due for a GI inspection this year. It has been three years since the last one which was clean, based on what was being looked for. However I see no sense in poking around if we do not know where and what to look for.

Is there a proceedure for taking biopsy samples for h-pylori? What culture methods are available?

Dr Martin Blaser at Vanderbilt has my orginal BM slide material and is getting a third independent assessment of the original CLL diagnosis. I see this as a key factor in any further investigation. As a result of my prodding a number of CLL people have been tested for H-pylori. Thus far all have been negative.

Is it possible that there is yet another bug that is similar. I have noted an unusually high number of sinus /drainage/ infections backgrounds in CLL's. I personally have noted over 10 years a connection between my sinus drainage and ulcer flair ups. Has this connection ever been explored?

I will advise when I get my next CBC

Best Regards, Len Schoenman
